Application Process

Follow these steps to apply as an international student

1 Check Eligibility Requirements

Ensure you meet the academic requirements for your chosen program. Different programs may have specific prerequisites.

Undergraduate Programs
  • Completed secondary education (high school diploma or equivalent)
  • Transcripts from all previous educational institutions
  • English proficiency (IELTS 6.0+, TOEFL iBT 70+, or equivalent)
  • Standardized test scores (if applicable)
Graduate Programs
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent for Master's programs
  • Master's degree for Doctoral programs
  • Transcripts from all previous educational institutions
  • English proficiency (IELTS 6.5+, TOEFL iBT 80+, or equivalent)
  • GRE/GMAT scores (for some programs)
  • Research proposal (for Doctoral programs)

2 Prepare Required Documents

Gather all necessary documents for your application. All documents must be in English or accompanied by certified translations.

Passport valid for at least 18 months beyond your expected program end date

Academic Documents

Official transcripts, diplomas, and certificates from all previous educational institutions

Language Proficiency

IELTS, TOEFL, or other accepted English proficiency test results

Application Essays

Personal statement, statement of purpose, and/or research proposal (as required by your program)

Recommendation Letters

2-3 letters from academic or professional references

Financial Documents

Evidence of sufficient funds to cover tuition and living expenses for at least one year

Essential information about obtaining your student visa

Student Visa Requirements

All international students must obtain a student visa to study in Kyrgyzstan. The International Student Office will provide guidance and support throughout this process.

Documents Required for Visa Application:
  • Valid passport (valid for at least 18 months beyond program end date)
  • Official letter of acceptance from KIT
  • Visa application form
  • Passport-sized photographs (white background)
  • Proof of accommodation in Kyrgyzstan
  • Proof of financial support
  • Medical insurance
  • HIV/AIDS test certificate (issued within the last 3 months)
Visa processing times vary by country. Apply at least 6-8 weeks before your planned arrival.

Visa Application Process

  1. Receive your acceptance letter and visa support documents from KIT
  2. Contact the nearest Kyrgyz embassy or consulate in your country
  3. Submit your visa application with all required documents
  4. Pay the visa application fee
  5. Attend an interview (if required)
  6. Collect your visa once approved
After Arrival in Kyrgyzstan:
  • Register with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs within 3 days of arrival
  • Obtain a temporary residence permit
  • Complete medical check-up at designated clinics
Visa Extension

Student visas are initially issued for one year and must be renewed annually. The International Student Office will assist you with the extension process.

Frequently Asked Questions about Visas

The visa processing time varies by country, but typically takes 2-4 weeks. We recommend applying at least 6-8 weeks before your planned arrival to allow for any unexpected delays.

International students are permitted to work part-time (up to 20 hours per week) on campus during the academic year. Full-time work is allowed during official university breaks. Off-campus employment requires additional work authorization.

If your visa application is rejected, contact the International Student Office immediately. We will provide guidance on the appeal process or alternative options. In some cases, we can provide additional supporting documents to strengthen your application.
